Stony Point Lighthouse, a beautiful octagonal structure, is the oldest lighthouse on the 315-mile long Hudson River, marking the entrance to the Hudson Highlands. Back to jail to tour the Old Franklin Jail, parts of which date back to 1818. In 1848, something remarkable happened — a bunch of women gathered to discuss and formulate a vision that embodied an expansive view of equality that started from the Declaration of Independence, but took the principles noted there several steps further. “All men and women are created equal,” was the core assertion of this vision, documented in the “Declaration of Sentiments.” If you’re near Morristown National Historic Park, take a few minutes to visit the Cross Estate Gardens, a small but beautiful botanical garden on the site of the New Jersey Brigade Unit of the park. For a few moments, you’ll escape into a different time and place — exactly as the estate was originally designed to do. Marshy Point Nature Park is a quiet little park in Middle River, MD. On a peninsula jutting out between the Saltpeter Creek and Dundee Creek, the park offers more than eight miles of hiking trails, a wildlife observation platform, a butterfly garden, a paddle trail and a canoe or kayak launch and pier. Working on an article about the best places to get milk shakes in Maryland... the research is hard, but someone needs to do it! There’s an amazing oasis right in the heart of Washington DC, nestled near the banks of the Anacostia River. Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, a series of cultivated ponds filled with waterlilies and lotuses. Adjacent to the ponds is Kenilworth Marsh, the largest remaining tidal marsh in the nation’s capital. Most Americans have heard of the Erie Canal, but few know much about it. If discovering new facts is something you enjoy, then you need to visit this museum. Do you have rage? I think most of us have some rage going on!!
