Spending a Delightful Afternoon at Spinners Pinball Arcade

This isn’t my typical daytrip, but it makes a very fun one — and it’s a great way to spend some time with family on a rainy day or super hot summer day!

Spinners Pinball Arcade has more than 100 pinball machines, classic gaming consoles, skeeball, air hockey, foosball, golden tee, virtual pinball, and more.

Its mission is not only to provide a fun place to play vintage arcade games, but also to create a safe space for pinball and other gaming for the social enrichment, skill development and education of kids and young adults with special needs.

Spending just a few bucks (okay, $15) will get you a day’s access to all the games. For a Father’s Day celebration, we invited close friends and all our kids to join us at this great little arcade shop.

We got hungry after a couple of hours, so we popped around the corner to grab some pizza. The arcade stamped our hands so we could get back in. If you arrange ahead of time, you may be able to eat in one of the party rooms (if there are no parties going on).

For us 50-somethings, it was like strolling down memory lane. Pac Man? Yeah, they’ve got that.  Frogger? Yeah, that too (also, I’m still terrible at it.)

Skeeball, just like at a carnival or county fair? Yep.

For hard core memory lane enthusiasts, there’s Galaga, Golden Ax, Centipedes, and DigDug, among others.

Getting there: 919 N East St Suite B, Frederick, MD

Hours: Fridays and Saturdays 1 p.m. to midnight, Sunday 1 – 10 p.m.
